David Schwartz’s Custom GMT Build

Case, Bracelet, and Overall Finishing

The case and bracelet use gold-tone PVD over 904L stainless steel. The combination gives the watch a substantial feel while supporting the yellow gold look David wanted.

He found the overall finishing good for the price. The brushed areas appeared clean, the polished surfaces reflected light well, and the watch felt solid in hand.

David also made it clear that comparing the finishing directly with a Rolex would not be realistic given the significant price difference. His assessment focused on whether the SKYRIM WRIST build felt well made within its own category.

The yellow gold Jubilee bracelet completes the design and adds more visual detail than a standard Oyster-style bracelet. It also remained comfortable during David’s time with the watch.

The NH34 operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and has become a popular movement in accessible GMT watches. It is generally reliable, relatively easy to service, and adds GMT functionality without pushing the watch into a much higher price range.

David’s review sample was running at approximately minus three to minus six seconds per day. He also recorded an amplitude of around 223 and a beat error of 0.4.

A frequent international traveler may prefer a flyer GMT with an independently adjustable local-hour hand. For everyday use and tracking a second time zone, David felt most collectors would be well served by the NH34.

Ceramic GMT Bezel

The ceramic bezel insert fits the character of the watch and reinforces its modern GMT appearance. David found the bezel action solid, with a tactile feel and very little back play once it was in position.

His main concern was the configuration. The watch uses a 120-click unidirectional bezel, while David would prefer a 60-click bidirectional bezel on future GMT builds.

A bidirectional bezel would make it faster to adjust the second-time-zone scale in either direction. Even so, he felt the existing bezel functioned well and appeared properly assembled.

On-Wrist Experience

David tested the watch on his 7.25-inch wrist. The 40mm case looked balanced, although the male end links increased its visual size.

As expected from the design, the watch had plenty of wrist presence. The Ember dial, gold-tone case, and Jubilee bracelet attracted attention without making the watch uncomfortable to wear.

David found the bracelet comfortable and the overall weight appropriate for the substantial design. Despite the bright gold-tone finish, he felt the watch could be dressed up or worn with more casual clothing.

Buyers who prefer restrained watches may find the configuration too bold. For someone who enjoys expressive designs or wants a statement GMT, that same quality may be one of its strongest attractions.

Final Thoughts

David’s SKYRIM WRIST Custom GMT turned out closer to his original Tiger Iron-inspired concept than he expected.

The Ember dial does not replicate the depth or natural variation of genuine Tiger Iron stone. Instead, it captures the warm colors, dark streaks, and bold visual character that made the original design appealing to him.
